chicago was incredible, so leaving their on such a high note made for a very peaceful, nice drive south to Champaign. our buddy in Version had set up this show for us, but their drummer quit so they were unable to play the show. it was a house show at a venue called Terror (also sometimes known as Error) House.
Illinois is a beautiful state. the weather was gorgeous and perfect. we made it there in about 3 hours with stopping for some gas and a little break from the van. i took some little scenery pictures. ill put em up on the next picture post. we got to the show around 6.
the kids there were pretty quiet, but nice. the show was downstairs and the place smelled like mold. oh well, a bit endearing i spose. the first band was the house's/local band, the diamond stetch. sex magician dropped from the show. nouns was a solo project, with just a dude with his guitar and his laptop. it was okay, not my thing. guitar was way too loud to get the full feel.
we played, and played pretty tight. setlist was the same. kids didnt really dig it or get into it, but we had fun. after packing up, we hung out upstairs. one of the singers of the first band was broke so he paid us in a couple bags of chips and a bag of cheerios which a week later im still munching on! thanks dudes! we rolled on and out back north, where we had a place to stay with dan from cadence and some of his friends.
we got pulled over on the way there, trailer lights. yeah yeah we know, thank you officer. we finally got to yorkville, and pulled up to the house. once inside however, our mind was blown. this place as a fucking palace. huuuuuuge ceilings. gorgeous interior. we met the owner of the house, yumi, dans friend. very sweet girl who had some friends over. she also had a brand new puppy chihuahua, and 2 baby kittens! seriously the cutest animals ever. she made us pizza, and cooked my bag of hotwings for me. what the fuck?! best host EVER. dan showed me the preview of new shit him juan and mike have been working on for their new band.
after using the wifi, we all crashed around 4 am. i keep falling asleep midconversation with my girlfriend, because we dont get very good sleep on tour, and the time difference is a total killer for me. i havent adjusted at alllll. its fuckin weird. ps this girl has a downstairs with a huge couch, 2 bathrooms, pool table, huge flatscreen tv, this huge wrestling mat, and a lot more. just an incredible house.
in the morning, yumi made us all pancakes and eggs. amazing. we had a fucking total blast. after got some showers in, we rolled out and headed north to michigan. huge thanks to dan, yumi, and everyone tht hung out at the house.
